Today

Today is October 18.

It means nothing to anyone else but me.

Of that I am quite certain.

Nobody ever remembers it except me.

But to me, it’s the most significant date of my life.

Today is the only day of the year I truly celebrate.

I have no wife.

I have no children.

I do not celebrate my birthday.

But today is my anniversary.

Today is my Trail-versary.

On this date, in 2015, I completed my Thru Hike of the Appalachian Trail.

Nobody cares but me and that’s ok.

Today is my day, nobody else’s.

I miss you, Easter Pod.
