Autumn Brings Change

Autumn Brings Change

It’s been a while since I’ve posted. As summer winds down to autumn, I often reflect back on the season. To say it’s been a crazy spring and summer would be an understatement. Life has been busy, but monotonous. It’s had a lot of ups and downs but I’m mostly content with where things are at right now.

Thankfully, we got through all of summer without another lockdown or tightening restrictions. I think everyone is thankful for that, especially after all the isolation 2020 had. My bike club held a charity poker run for three fallen heroes, raising over $5,000 for their families. I helped a friend move his daughter to a new city some 500 miles away. I helped that same friend move himself 500 miles away, in a different direction. I’ve had family come visit me. I’ve had friends help me. I’ve been disappointed, and pleasantly surprised. And throughout it all, I’ve been working what feels like a ton of hours, but really isn’t; been trying to sort through boxes, which is also sorting through your life’s story; and been trying to still enjoy life, because if you don’t, then what’s the point.

Here’s a collection of quotes and pics from the last two months. Hope you enjoy.

“Nothing has ever been said about God that hasn’t already been said better by the wind in the pine trees.” Thomas Merton

“I just want to live in a world of mountains, coffee, campfires, cabins, and golden trees, and run around with a camera and notebook, learning the inner workings of everything real.” Victoria Erickson in Rhythms and Roads

“Great minds discuss ideas. Average minds discuss events. Small minds discuss people.” Eleanor Roosevelt

“A lie doesn’t become truth, wrong doesn’t become right, and evil doesn’t become good, just because it’s accepted by a majority.” Booker T. Washington

“All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.” J.R.R. Tolkien
“Right now, I’m stuck somewhere between what if, what might, what could have, and what never will and all I want to know is what actually is.” Christina Hart

“As I get older, I am becoming more selective of who I consider a friend. I would rather have 4 quarters than 100 pennies.” Steve Maraboli

“Without trust, honesty, and communication, love is just another four letter word, like shit.” Tommy Cotton

“... the silence isn’t so bad, ‘Till I look at my hands and feel sad, ‘Cause the spaces between my fingers are right where yours fit perfectly.” Vanilla Twilight by Adam Young

“Missing someone isn’t about how long it has been since you’ve last seen them or the amount of time since you’ve last talked. It’s about that very moment when you’re doing something and wishing they were right there with you.” Unknown

“Back before all hell broke loose. Before we became strangers who forgot we were in it because of love... I still remember you then. Before. That’s the ghost that haunts my soul, moaning promises of forever.” Alpha

“Love is an unconditional commitment to an imperfect person. To love somebody isn’t just a strong, feeling. It’s a decision, a judgement and a promise.” Erich Fromm

“I watched my best friends get close to other people and count me out. I’ve seen the people I trusted most talk about me behind my back. So don’t come at me asking me why I don’t have any friends or always look annoyed. I like to chill on my own.” The Modern Break-Up Novel

“This year I was tested more than ever. I lost a lot, but also won, I failed, I cried, I laughed, I learned, I loved, but most of all, I’m still here; I did not break.” Stephanie Bennett-Henry

“Everyone you meet always asks if you have a career, are married or own a house; as if life was some kind of grocery list. But nobody ever asks if you are happy.” Heath Ledger

“When my time in this world comes to an end, gather my friends who knew me best, play some great music, mix glitter in with my ashes and let the wind take me to all the places I never got a chance to see, but most importantly, remember me by living the rest of your life smiling.” Stephanie Bennett-Henry

“I’ve been knocked down time and time again, Got picked back up by love and a few good friends…” Luke Combs in song “This One’s For You”

Thanks for listening to the ramblings of a lost dreamer. Remember to always Spin the Compass…
